Description
The original trio, with Goodman on clarinet, Teddy Wilson on piano, and Gene Krupa on drums, was formed in 1935. Lionel Hampton on vibes was added in 1937 to make the quartet. Early in 1938 Krupa left Goodman to form his own band, thus breaking up the original quartet. Twenty-five years later in 1963, the four men reunited in this studio recording. As with their great recordings from the late 1930s, they attack the music with their trademark combination of energy and musicality. No one holds back! As the album's liner notes correctly say: "The creative spark burns as brightly as it did twenty-five years ago."
